Staf Teknis Pengawasan Pemilu (Bawaslu Provinsi Riau) Hendro Susanto menganjurkan kepada masyarakat untuk tidak menghirup kabut asap tersebut karena berbahaya.
"Ada beberapa tempat yang sangat mengganggu, jangan hirup asap itu," kata Hendro didalam ruanagan Sentra Gakkumdu Kantor Bawaslu Provinsi Riau, Jalan Sultan Syarif Kasim, Pekanbaru, Sabtu (1/3/2014). Hendro Susanto juga mengeluarkan pendapatnya untuk Dinas Kesehatan Pekanbaru supaya menyediakan obat-obatan untuk masyarakat Pekanbaru. Ia juga mengimbau agar masyarakat selalu menggunakan masker.
